Next FCC Chairman . . . Ajit Pai

As reported by Politico, an announcement is expected that current FCC Republican commissioner Ajit Pai has been chosen by President Trump as the new chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

Pai, a commissioner of the FCC since 2012, does not require senate approval to be appointed chairman since he has already been confirmed. However, the senate will need to reconfirm him when his term as commissioner officially expires later this year.

Pai's background includes time as the associate general counsel at Verizon and in the FCC's Office of General Counsel. Pai was often a critic of the decisions by previous chairman Thomas Wheeler, who resigned last month. Until the president nominates two additional commissioners, two republicans and one democrat will lead the FCC.

Pai was a strong critic of the Commission's new autodialer definition from 2015 and he is a friend of the industry who we expect will absolutely make a positive impac
