Louisiana has declared an emergency that prohibits unsolicited telemarketing calls into the state effective 6 AM CST October 9, 2020.

The current, novel coronavirus pandemic that is spreading COVID-19 is causing massive upheaval worldwide. For telemarketers, this is creating uncertainty as to how regulations such as the TCPA and state laws dictate what sorts of calls are allowed during such a period of emergency.

Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency for 26 Florida counties including all of South Florida, as Hurricane Dorian approaches. States of emergency have been subsequently declared in Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia.

Update: Conditions of the storm have allowed the release of the Louisiana Public Service Commission from mandatory its EOC presence, beginning July 15, 2019 at 12:00 PM PT.  Telephone solicitations into the state can resume as normal. Louisiana has declared an emergency which prohibits unsolicited telemarketing calls into the state effective 6:00 am today. I'll keep an eye on the status and let you know when it is lifted.
